# custom entities

An entity can be used to store information to be used later in the conversation, in Flows, or to pass to Integrations that reference external services.

### Create a Custom Entity

From the Entities page, click **Create Entity**

Select **Custom** entity type in the sidebar.

Enter in the sidebar -

* **Entity Name**

  Name the entity. All entity names must be unique within the project.
* **Training materials checkbox**

  Leave unchecked.

Click **Create Entity** in the sidebar

Choose to either **Add a Text Value** or to **Add a Pattern Value**

### Custom Entities created elsewhere in the tool

Custom Entities can also be created elsewhere in the platform from a **Search & Create** field. Entities created this way will not yet have text or pattern values, and these need to be added later - see **Entity Text Values** and **Entity Pattern Values**.
