Q&A Add-Ons

Extra features can be added to an Q&A e.g. time/date context, video responses, metadata etc. by enabling Add-On sections.

In the following step-by-step example, we will :-

  • Enable a Context Add-On

  • Enable a Prompt Add-On

  • Save the Intent

To add extra details to an intent, open the Q&A and click Enable Add-On

Enable a Context Add-On

Enable or disable an Q&A at certain times, days of the week, or dates. For instance, you may want to provide the end-user different responses in order to give them different contact instructions at the weekend or over a holiday period.

  1. In the sidebar, click on the Context Add-On card. The Context section will be appended to the bottom of the page.

  2. Enter in the Context section -

  • Start Time & End Time The times that, between which, the intent is to be active Fields left blank indicate that Q&A is to be active around the clock

  • Start/End Date The dates that, between which, the Q&A is to be active Fields left blank indicate that Q&A is to be active for all dates

  • Days of the Week The days of the week that the Q&A is to be active Choose one or more days, or All for every day of the week

Enabling Prompts

Prompts are a simplified version of a flow, where you want to provide the user with a couple of options to direct them to more personalised responses within a Q&A rather than flow.

  1. In the sidebar, click on the Prompt Add-On card. The Prompt section will be appended at the bottom of the page.

  1. In the Prompt Text box, enter in the question or query you would like to ask the user. For example "What colour hat would you like?'.

  2. Click on the Advanced Options button and then Add Metadata. Name and Value fields will appear.

  3. In the Name text field type 'quick_reply' and in the Value text field enter the name of the options you would like to display. These will be shown as buttons to users.

  1. Next you need to link the metadata to Q&As in order to return the correct response. Click on Create Decision.

  2. In the Select Decision modal, click on Jump.

  3. In the Create Jump Decision modal, enter or select the name of your entity.

    1. If you are creating a new entity you will need to navigate to the entity page and locate the value you have created and add in your button option. Each value in a prompt requires an induvial entity.

  4. In the Search Intents drop down select the Q&A you would like to return to the user if that option is selected. If you have not created a Q&A yet, you will need to do so by returning to the knowledge base page.

  1. Repeat steps 5 - 8 for each button option.

  2. Select 'Create Decision'.

Save the Q&A
